Formed by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, the Frontera Fund has helped settle very many issues concerning immigrants. Lacey and Larkin have been involved in very any incidents in their career, fighting for their rights.
Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin acquired the $3.75 million they used to begin the foundation from the case of the sheriff.
Lacey and Larkin published the involvements of the sheriff in evil deeds as the front paper of their newspaper. On seeing what they had done, the occupants were utterly surprised. This is because the sheriff was a respected person in the society. No one would have sort to follow that path.
When the sheriff had what they had done, he arrested them from their home at midnight. He then blindfolded them to an unknown location.
They were however released within 24 hours as a result of civilian protests. When they went to court, the arrest was considered unlawful. They were therefore compensated with the $3.75 million.
They used this money to assist the immigrants in Arizona. The Frontera Fund supports the humanitarian groups that share a common goal in Arizona. They are determined to see that every citizen, regardless of their race, religion, background among other factors enjoys human rights.
Currently, the institution has focused its energy on helping the DACA Foundation. The DACA Foundation helps immigrants who have been in the United States for so long.They give them an additional of two years. They are not dictated on what to do with the extra time. Some of them complete their education while others sort to find legal documents and settle permanently in the country.
The Texas Attorney General has ordered the close down of the foundation. The Frontera Fund has promised that this will be yet another battle that they are going to win.
